Amy Winehouse invites ex-husband Blake Fielder-Civil to Jamaica

February 11th, 2010

Amy Winehouse has invited ex-husband Blake Fielder-Civil to join her in Jamaica.

The troubled star arrived on the Caribbean island on Monday (08.02.10) so she finish her long-awaited third album, but friends of the 26-year-old singer are now concerned she won’t get any work done now Blake is coming to stay.

The ‘Back to Black’ singer is currently arranging flights for Blake – who was released from jail last February after serving time for grievous bodily harm (GBH) and attempting to pervert the course of justice – who had been ordered to stay in Britain until the end of this week to complete his drug treatment programme.

A source told The Sun newspaper: “Amy and Blake want to spend some time together away from home where they have been governed by his curfew.

“She is desperate for him to join her and, of course, he wants a nice holiday and some fun. Friends have tried talking her out of it – but at the moment she’s more focused on work than she has been for ages.”

Amy, 26, spent eight months on the Caribbean island of St. Lucia last year in order to work on her LP but the sessions didn’t go as planned.

U2 win live production award

February 11th, 2010

U2’s live production has been voted the best stage show of 2009 in the Total Production International Awards.

The revolutionary design sees the band perform below a massive claw. The magazine’s editor-in-chief, Mark Cunningham, heaped praise on the design.

“It is a massive engineering feat – from scenery to video to audio, with the biggest PA system that has ever been seen on a tour.

“It’s a fantastic achievement and the four members of U2 are effectively the icing on the cake.”

U2 will headline Glastonbury’s 40th anniversary this year.

Madonna held ‘epic’ auditions

February 7th, 2010

Madonna held ‘epic’ auditions for new backing dancers at a New York nightclub.

The ‘Celebration’ singer is searching for a group of experienced performers to join her on stage during her forthcoming shows, and turned up at the Simyone Lounge club, also known as SL, in Manhattan’s trendy Meatpacking District to watch them in person.

A source told the New York Post newspaper: ‘She was looking for new dancers for her upcoming tour. It was pretty epic. Some professionals were doing flips and spins, while the amateurs sort of just stared.’

Around 30 dancers took to the floor at the popular night spot, arranged themselves into a circle and held a dance-off.

The 51-year-old pop star – who began her own showbiz career as a professional dancer – watched on with her friend and singer Eve, Italian basketball player Danilo Gallinari, while hip-hop DJ Tony Touch took to the decks.

Madonna finished her epic ‘Sweet and Sticky’ world tour late last year but is already keen to get back on the road.

George Michael arrested

August 16th, 2009

GEORGE MICHAEL has been arrested on suspicion of drug-driving.

The singer was detained by police after crashing his car into the back of a lorry while allegedly doing over 100mph.

Motorists who witnessed the accident on the A34 road in Berkshire, England, yesterday, said they feared the 46-year-old singer was dead as he sat dazed in the vehicle for ten minutes.

The lorry driver, Lawrie Rowe, said Michael, who only recently got his driving licence back after a two-year ban for drug-driving in 2007, was speeding.

He said: “He must have been doing 100mph. When he got out he couldn’t walk straight.”

Michael, who wrote off his Land Rover in the accident, was arrested at the scene and taken to a nearby police station, where he was questioned for five hours before finally being released without charge.

A police spokeswoman said: “The driver of the Land Rover, a 46-year-old man, was arrested at the scene and taken into police custody. He was later released without charge.”

In February 2006, Michael was cautioned for drug possession after sleeping at the wheel of his car.

Two months later he hit three parked cars outside his London home and in May 2006 he crashed his car after again falling asleep at the wheel while listening to his iPod.

That same year, in October, he was arrested after police found him unconscious in his vehicle at a junction in London.

He was banned from driving for two years after pleading guilty to driving while unfit through drugs.
